At Reading CC we aim to build a solid foundation for the club and there will be a colts academy set up in the summer with highly qualified coaches. We are searching for a sponsor for this for help with a camera, bowling machine and other coaching equipment. Sponsors who may be interested please contact David Barr; any support will be greatly appreciated.
The new season promises to be one for new faces as one or two have indicated their intention to leave the club while others have stated their intention to join. We wish Luke Beaven well in his move to High Wycombe, Luke first played for Reading CC first eleven aged fourteen so it is a sad day to see such a talented cricketer leave while at the same time acknowledging the need for him to further his cricketing aspirations.
Ian Slatcher is enjoying a productive season for Terrigal in New South Wales. So far 4 new players have indicated their intention to join Reading CC for next season all highly promising young cricketers who will be keen to make an impression.
Both wickets have had a major makeover and they are looking great for coming season (see gallery)
The AGM is due to take place last week in January date and time will be confirmed shortly
Nets shall take place at Crosfields school 7:30-9:00 Sunday nights from first Sunday in February if you require directions please contact Jim on 07855 758178 the cost £3 per session
New players are always welcome to join and season 2012 is a particularly exciting time. All standards of players are very welcome, net practises are well attended and led by club coach Wilson Gumbs. The club is in the Thames Valley league Div 1,2,4 and 6, National KO, Club cricket Conference, Sunday league and the mid-week 20 over league with 2 sides in which the Reading A team won div 1 and runner up in the cup (lost by 4 runs in final over) . There is a thriving ladies section too. There is truly something for everyone all set in a convivial atmosphere.
Those new players wishing to be in the 1st X1 squad should contact David Barr on 07846 425689 and 2nds, 3rds and 4ths should contact Jim Cowan.
