Reading 2s were at home for a clash against top of the table Finchamstead CC.
We were batting first on a hot day and after the first 15 we made a steady start with 39 on the board. The second wicket fell soon after and Luke and Pav stitched together a very platform for our middle order as they put together 106 for the third wicket, with both making half centuries. Unfortunately they both fell in quick succession and the middle order was unable to capitalise on the previous partnership and it was only due to some late resistance from Inderjeet we were able to get close to 200. A special mention to Phil who persevered through the pain barrier to come out and bat.
Three successive wickets while the opposition score was on 74 brought us back into the game, however we were unable to make further immediate inroads into the opposition and the Finchampstead middle order were able to see the game through for their side.
Our score was always below par and this proved to be as we suffered defeat, and onto the next.
